Rock and roll: some would argue that it’s become all smoke and mirrors, plug-ins and effects. True in certain cases, but not at all for JET. At the heart of every great rock and roll band lie four essential elements: bass, drums, guitars and vocals. That, in its purest essence, is JET. And JET, in their purest essence, have again captured those elements with their third album, Shaka Rock. With their previous releases — 2003’s Get Born and 2006’s Shine On — JET broke out of their native Australia and established themselves as a multi-platinum, international success story, merging the charisma and energy of classic rock and roll with just enough punk swagger and contemporary flair to create something uniquely theirs. Here at last is a band that’s returning the cool to rock and roll.
2009’s Shaka Rock reveals new dimensions of JET while never losing the raw roots of Get Born or the grace and melody of Shine On, which together went on to make JET an international band of style and substance. In the writing and recording of Shaka Rock, which took place in Miami, Brooklyn, Austin, Sydney and Melbourne, the band worked hard to create 12 finely crafted tracks that owe as much to JET’s past as to their future. The band also stepped up to the plate in the studio, working side by side as co-producers with Chris “Frenchie” Smith to ensure that Shaka Rock would live up to their own expectations. Says Mark Wilson, “This time, the album wasn’t dictated by a producer or a record company. It was dictated by us. Going in this time, we were a lot more comfortable about taking the reins and being in control.”
The album is highlighted by tracks like the first single, “She’s A Genius” a lighthearted take on the band’s appreciation of women, giving new meaning to the phrase, and “Black Hearts (On Fire)” about which songwriter Chris Cester observes, “Greed and power are fascinating things...in some ways, “Black Hearts” is just putting them under the microscope. Power is a slippery slope. It's a song about sliding out of control, losing yourself to something, whether its real or not...we all know what that feels like, it's frightening, but it makes you feel alive.”

January 22, 8pm The Rev Room
Featuring...
Four on the Floor
Hailing from Little Rock, Arkansas, Four on the Floor is a heavy-hitting Rock and Roll quartet with a powerful sound and presence. In Spring 2007 (after 20 years of searching), Charlie Page (guitar), Al Martin (bass), and Mike Dugan (drums) finally found their musical soul mate in local artist EC Haynes (vocals). With the Combo now complete, FOTF immediately began selling out local venues and won the $10,000 first place at the 2008 Isle of Capri Casino Regional Battle of the Bands. The band has also opened for such national acts as Dizzy Reed (Guns and Roses), Ted Nugent, Jackyll, Hinder, and Heart. With all the pieces of the puzzle now in place, industry professionals and fans agree, Four on the Floor is the next driving force in Rock and Roll.
Good Time Ramblers
Little Rock’s Good Time Ramblers have been defined as having the quintessential “Arkansas country sound” (Shea Stewart, SYNC Weekly), which combines truthful delta soul music, Texas swing, classic country, and genuine Southern rock’n’roll.

New Found Glory is an American rock band from Coral Springs, Florida, formed in 1997. Founding members were lead vocalist Jordan Pundik, lead guitarist and composer Chad Gilbert, rhythm guitarist and lyricist Steve Klein, bassist Ian Grushka and drummer Joe Moreno. Current drummer Cyrus Bolooki replaced Moreno after only a handful of shows and the lineup has remained unchanged ever since. Influenced by punk revival bands from the 1990s such as Green Day and NOFX,the five-piece are renowned for incorporating pop melodies into a punk rock sound. Subsequently, they are now widely credited as a key pioneer in the fusion genre of pop punk. Also noted for their energetic live performances, the band have garnered a devout following over the course of their career. As of 2007, New Found Glory has sold approximately 2.5 million records.
Having met during high school, the band soon released the debut EP It's All About the Girls (1997) on independent label Fiddler Records. Later, debut album, Nothing Gold Can Stay (1999) was released on Eulogy Recordings and helped earn the band a significant following. Whilst still in their teens, the five-piece signed their first proper record deal with Drive-Thru Records, and recorded a cover EP of songs from film soundtrack's titled, From the Screen to Your Stereo (2000). Later that year, debut single "Hit or Miss" peaked at #15 on the US Modern Rock Chart, which helped propel the band to a mainstream audience. Subsequently their self-titled second album New Found Glory (2000) spent 21 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart and peaked at #107.
Between 2002 and 2004, the band experienced the height of their popularity with headline slots on the Warped Tour with Blink 182 and a supporting tour with Green Day. Third album and mainstream breakthrough, Sticks and Stones (2002), peaked at #4 on the Billboard 200 chart[16] helped by popular singles "My Friends Over You" and "Head on Collision" (charting at #5 and #28 on the Rock Chart respectively). "All Downhill from Here" reached #11 in the Rock Chart before fourth album, Catalyst (2004) peaked at a career-high #3 on the Billboard 200. Their next album, Coming Home (2006), marked a stylistic change that differed largely from earlier material. Despite a lack of label support it entered the Billboard chart at #19,and was warmly received by critics for its maturity.
he following year the band issued their second cover album titled From the Screen to Your Stereo Part II (2007). After a spell without a contract, they signed with Bridge Nine Records and released a new EP titled, Tip of The Iceberg (2008). Sixth album, Not Without a Fight (2009), produced by Mark Hoppus, was recorded before they signed with independent label Epitaph Records. The album helped renew their popularity as it debuted at #12 on the Billboard 200 and at #1 on the Top Independent Albums.
